My career started with the BBC as a television camerawoman, then moved into science communication and education. Now I am a photogenealogist, author and advocate for caring for and enjoying family history photographs.
Combining my passions for photography and genealogy, I help individuals and families recognise photographs as historical artifacts with a unique ability to connect generations.
I promote accessible and engaging ways for people to preserve and share their photo legacy. In doing this, I emphasize not only the practical aspects of photogenealogy but also the emotional value of old photos.
I hold a PGCert in genealogy, advanced degrees in zoology, and have undertaken extensive training in photo management.
I have contributed numerous articles to Family Tree magazine, given presentations for family history societies worldwide, and I am currently writing a book on photogenealogy, which is due for publication in 2026 by Pen & Sword.
